How To Send In A Build New Landing Page Task

If you're looking to have a new landing page built, this guide is for you!


A word about Design.


Good programmers aren't good designers, and good designers can't program for the life of them. (there are of course rare exceptions in the world but it's definitely not the rule)


When it comes to your Automation Agency Heroes, Web Heroes = Programmers, and Design Heroes = Graphic Designers


Keep this in mind when you are wanting to create a new landing page. If you are needing a landing page to be visually designed by us, you'll need to split your tasks into at least 2 tasks.


A Design Task to mockup the design of the landing page.

then...

A Web Task to build the landing page based off the approved design.


The Web Team can however duplicate and edit an existing landing page you have already got or leverage prebuilt templates so you won't always need a Design Task first if you have a reference that a programmer can use.


What You'll Need To Prepare


  • Copy (aka words) for the page - Formatted with Paragraphs & Headings & Places to put Call To Actions
     (if you want to hire a copywriter we can refer you to a recommended one)

  • Structure/Layout/Design Reference / Instructions
    (Wireframe Sketches, Existing Templates or Reference Pages are great here)

  • Photos/Images required to be used 
    (If you have specific images you want us to use, please supply them, we do limited assistance on finding stock images or creating icons)


What To Provide Us When Sending The Task


Depending on your needs to achieve a new landing page it may be more than just 1 task.

If everything is brand new, you're probably looking at at least 3 tasks


  1. Mocking Up The Design
  2. Building The Page
  3. Setting Up New Automations


However this won't always be the case and sometimes maybe it's just 2. Building The Page and 3. Setting Up The New Automation, or maybe even just 2. Building The Page since the Automation has already been set up previously.


Below are guides on the types of information we'll need for each of the 3 tasks that can occur when setting up a new landing page.


1. Mocking Up The Design (optional)

Task Type: Design Task


Ensure your explanation, includes answers to the following:


  1. What Platform This Page Will Be Being Built On?
    (eg. Wordpress, LeadPages, ClickFunnels, Ontrapages etc...)
    This is because certain platforms have design restrictions and limitations we need to adhere to

  2. Preferred Colours to be used (if any)

  3. Preferred Fonts to be used (if any)

  4. Structure/Layout/Design Reference
    (eg. Hand Drawn Sketch Of Layout, Video Taking Us Through Example Design/Layout You Like, Ask Designer To Use A Standard Template Layout if we have one for such a page)


Additional Actions and Resources we'll need:

  • Copy (aka Words)
    Please attach in ONE document the sales copy for the page

  • Images
    Please attach or supply links to any specific photos or images you require

  • Non Standard or Google Fonts
    If you have a special font that you have purchased for your brand, please supply the font file.

  • Logo
    If you have a logo of your business or a product that will be used on this page, please supply a high resolution (ideally PSD or AI file) version of it


2. Building The Page

Task Type: Web Task


Ensure your explanation, includes answers to the following:


  1. What Platform Should We Use to Build The Page? 
    (eg. Wordpress, LeadPages, ClickFunnels, OntraPages etc...)

  2. What Preferred URL for the Page?
    (eg. http://yourdomain.com/landingpagename, or success.clickfunnels.com/landingpagename etc..)

  3. What should the Title of the Page (the part that shows when you share the page on Social Media) be?
    (eg. "Essential Guide To Outsourcing Your Online Marketing - Automation Agency")

  4. Is This Page one of many pages in a connected funnel?
    (eg. This is the Sales Page, in a Sales Page -> Checkout -> Thank You page funnel)

  5. If this page is one of many, have you already sent in tasks for the other pages, or do we need to split this task for you?

  6. Is there a Form needed on this page? If yes, does it already exist or does it need to be created?
    (eg. There will be an opt-in form when the "GET ACCESS" button is clicked. This should be our existing form in Infusionsoft called "Opt-In: Free Guide")

  7. Design/layout Reference? 
    (eg. copy the page on our site called "Pricing Page", or , use the attached design PSD mockup, or , use the leadpages template "Webinar Registration 2.0", etc...)

  8. What should happen when a Call To Action button on the page is clicked?
    (eg. links to the page http://mydomain.com/thankyou, or , opens a lightbox popup with a form embedded in it etc..)

  9. Anything specific we need to know to ensure we do it right and achieve what you're looking for?
    (eg. Make sure you use the same top menu as you find on all our pages, etc...)

  10. Any special instructions for Mobile version of the page?
    (eg. Please hide the big image of the product when viewed on mobile devices to make the page nicer and easier to read)

    Please attach or supply links to any specific photos or images you require (unless you are providing a full design mockup PSD then just attach that)

  • Non Standard or Non Google Fonts
    If you have a special font that you have purchased for your brand, please supply the web ready font file if not already installed on your website.

  • Video Embed Code
    If you have any videos to go on this page, provide us the HTML embed code of the videos you want us to place on the page


3. Integrating New (Not Already Existing) Automations

Task Type: Automation Task


Ensure your explanation, includes answers to the following:


  1. What Platform Should We Use to Build The Automation? 
    (eg. Ontraport, Infusionsoft, ActiveCampaign)

  2. What Is The Desired User -> System Flow?
    (see Explaining a New Automation)

  3. Are There Any Tags You Want Added As Part Of This Automation?
    (eg. Tag them as "Customer" we already have an existing tag please use it, or , tag them as "Interest: Marketing" this tag doesn't yet exist please create it)

  4. Do you have an existing template you want us to use for the email style?

        If yes, what's it called or can you show us an example?

        If no, do you have an example style you want? or is a plain text looking email what you want

  5. Are all the emails to have the same style? or are some different?

    (eg. 5 of the 6 emails will use the Company Branding template, but email #3 with the subject "Hey.." should look like a plain text person email)

  6. Are all the emails coming from the same From Name? or do some emails need to be different?
    (eg. all the emails using the company branding should come from "Company Name" "email@domain.com", but the personal looking email should come from "John Smith" "smith@domain.com")

  7. Do you want us to send you a test email for each message? or just send you screenshots of what we've set up?

  8. What timezone do you want the emails/sms's scheduled to go out in? not relevant if you use Ontraport

  9. Should all steps in the Automation happen even on a weekend? or should some steps only occur on specific days or just week days?
    (eg. All emails and sms should only be sent Monday to Friday, nothing should be sent on a Weekend)

  10. Do we need to create any new custom fields, or do all fields we need exist already?
    (eg. we have the plan they are on being stored in the field "Client Plan" so no need to create a new field for this)

  11. Are there any conditions required on any emails in the automation?
    (eg. Don't send email 2 to them if they clicked the link in email 1)

  12. Anything specific we need to know to ensure we do it right and achieve what you're looking for?
    (eg. Make sure you use the same top menu as you find on all our pages, etc...)

  • Email/SMS Copy (aka words)
    Please attach in ONE document all email copy providing for each email the
     - From Name
     - From Email
     - Reply To Email (if different)
     - Subject
     - Body of Email with any words you want linked to a page already linked to where they should go
     - When It Should Be Sent (eg. 2 Days after the previous email at 10am Sydney Time)
     - Any Conditions When This Email Should NOT Be Sent (eg. If they already clicked the link in email 1, skip this email and go straight to email 3)
